Getting the perfect fit
Accurate measurements allow us to create a piece that sits comfortably and moves naturally with your dog.
We recommend using a soft measuring tape and ensuring it sits snug, but not tight.
How to measure your dog:
Tips for the Perfect Fit
-
A flexible fabric measuring tape, or alternatively:
Your dog’s leash or lead (ideal substitute!)
Something to mark or hold the length on the lead (like a finger)
Pen and paper or your phone to record measurements
Some tasty treats to keep your pup happy and cooperative
-
Don’t have a flexible sewing tape measure? No worries! Use your dog’s lead instead:
Wrap the lead around the area you want to measure - waist, chest, neck, or wrists.
Hold your finger at the point where the lead overlaps.
Lay the lead flat and measure the distance between the start and your finger with a ruler or a regular measuring tape.
-
For the best results, have your dog stand still on all fours. If your dog wags or moves, measure again for accuracy.
-
Neck girth (base)
Around the base of the neck where a jumper would naturally sit.
Neck girth (behind ears)
Measured higher up, just behind the ears.
Neck length
From the base of the neck to just behind the ears.
Chest girth
Around the widest part of the chest.
Chest length
From the wither (top of shoulders) down to the base of the chest.
Waist girth
Around the narrowest part of the torso.
Back length
From the base of the neck to the base of the tail.
Front leg length
From elbow to wrist.
Wrist girth
Around the wrist/ankle area of the front leg.
-
Add about 1 to 2 cm (or about half an inch) for comfort so the jumper isn’t too tight and your dog can move freely.
-
Keep the experience positive! Give treats and praise to help your dog stay calm. Measuring after a walk or playtime when your dog is relaxed can make the process easier.
